This most impressive urn is raised by a circular mottled patinated Bronze base supported on scrolled Bronze feet. Above each support is a lion head and draped pelt with the paws hanging on each side by a staff and spear. Flanking the lion heads are central reserves with Ormolu scrolls surrounding the Silvered Bronze central crest. Behind the crest are two cut laurel branches, a sign of peace. The socle above displays a gadrooned Ormolu band below the concave patinated Bronze and Ormolu gadrooned top mount. The lower level of the urn is elegantly decorated by four Gilt accented scrolled crests with a Silvered Bronze cabochon center. The patinated Bronze mid section of the urn is richly decorated by exquisitely chased and detailed mythological scenes of classical figures dancing amidst fruits, foliate scrolls, bows, all attributes of music and education of philosophy. The upper portion of the urn showcases swaging garlands of blossoming flowers which are held be female masks on both sides. The female masks are below the Ormolu and patinated Bronze scrolled handles with accents of acanthus leaves and a ram's heads at the top. The tapered circular neck and rim of the urn is finished by an Ormolu egg and dart trim. — Read Less
