He's been living in it happily for two months now and no chewing to get out as others have suggested. I have had to tweak the design a bit to fit in a large enough wheel for my Syrian and then again once he redecorated. The benefit of it being a softer wood is that it was very easy to reposition the ramps to fit in all of his toys. The bottom floor is entirely filled with his bedding allowing him to follow his natural instinct and burrow. Those who have complained of chewing and posted a picture show that there is not enough bedding to allow natural behaviour so chewing would be expected as their hamster would have been stressed.
